CodeLabeller

This is a tiny Shareware application that I created (originally in Basic) while taking a FORTRAN programming class (hence the little punch card in the icon). The instructor graded heavily on how well we commented our code, and he really liked banners and boxes, so I came up with a program to make...

C* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
C*                                                                     *
C*          BBBB    AAA   N   N  N   N  EEEEE  RRRR    SSS             *
C*          B   B  A   A  NN  N  NN  N  E      R   R  S   S            *
C*          B   B  A   A  N N N  N N N  E      R   R  S                *
C* BBBB AAAAA N NN N NN EEEE RRRR SSS *
C*          B   B  A   A  N   N  N   N  E      R   R      S            *
C*          B   B  A   A  N   N  N   N  E      R   R  S   S            *
C*          BBBB   A   A  N   N  N   N  EEEEE  R   R   SSS             *
C*                                                                     *
C* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

C * * * * * * C * and put * C * * * * * *

C* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * C* * C* * C* text into various boxes. * C* * C* * C* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

I also threw in rulers:

C23456^89012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456^89012

Originally, it only did FORTRAN-style comments, but I extended it to do

'* * * * *
'* Basic *
'* * * * *

/* * */ /* C */ /* * */

(* * * * * * *) (* Modula-2 *) (* * * * * * *)

{ * * * * } { Pascal } { * * * * }

;* * * * * * * ;* Assembler * ;* * * * * * *

--* * * * * * * --* HyperTalk * --* * * * * * *

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * And just plain boxes. * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

Using ResEdit, you can add the capability to conform to any other comment style I can imagine.

The ShareWare fee for this program is a mere five bucks. If you use CodeLabeller for a month or so, and you send me the $5 fee (the address is in the ReadMe file in the archive you'll download), I'll put your name in 2-inch high letters on the wall in my office where I can see it and reflect on what an usually high-class person you are. I really will, unless you say otherwise. Since a relatively small percentage of people are programmers, and a small percentage typically pay ShareWare fees, I am not worried about running out of room on my wall. :-( So be one of a very few people!

By the way, there is no Windoze version, and there never will be. So don't ask. This application, however humble, is in support of the Macintosh programming and developer community.

Download it!
